Creating your KDP account
Uploading your Book to the KDP platform
Creating your KDP Account
Now after all that long and at times tedious work, you are the point where you can upload your book to Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) platform. Beforre we can upload our book, we would need to go through a very simple process of creating our KDP account. If you already have one, feel free to jump to the book upload part!.
I've watched different videos before I created my KDP account as I thought the process will be cumbersome however I learned it was quite straightforward. In case you are encountering any challenges, try this video by Dale L. Roberts.
A few things to consider:
Use your Amazon account - it's easier to remember and to work within the same account.
Make sure to fill in the Tax form and update your bank account correctly - the KDP account will not be complete without that.
Uploading your Book to the KDP Platform
This is an important milestone in this self-publishing adventure; your work is about to be shared with so many people around the world!
I have split this process into three simple walk-me videos.
After you access your KDP account you select the Create option in yellow.
Follow the steps in the first part to see how to input your paperback book details.
After we've updated the name of the author, wrote the book description for Amazon, and so on, we're ready to upload the manuscript and the book cover to the KDP platform.
Follow the steps below to better understand what's needed in terms of book dimensions, and more.
The most critical part was done by uploading our manuscript and cover. Now we have to take care of a few last details before our first book is uploaded to the Amazon marketplace.
Follow the simple and short video below to make sure you've ticked all the boxes.
Congratulations! If you've followed all three steps, you are now the proud owner of a self-published book sold on the Amazon marketplace.
Now we need to make sure it's getting seen by potential buyers.
Check out the final part of our series on how self-publish a book on KDP focused on promoting & selling the book.
